Many children in the rural villages go without critical medical treatment because their families cannot afford even the basic costs required. While there is often free medical care offered in Phnom Penh, families cannot afford the transport or the time away from work to access this care. While we do not have the budget to fund the surgeries, we are able to provide transport and wage compensation for children and their families to receive treatment away from home.

We have been able to support three children to receive medical care at the Children’s Surgical Centre. For one child, we linked up with the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh and they arranged and paid for all transport, as well as support for the child and his family. All we had to do at Let’s Build a School was make the life changing connection!

Thank you to all those who volunteer their time and skills to provide medical treatment to the world’s poorest children. In particular, we would like to mention World Assistance to Cambodia, The Children’s Surgical Centre in Phnom Penh and the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh for their invaluable work in this area. We will work with other individuals and organisations to ensure that no child lives a life suffering treatable medical conditions.

Thank you Rotary Club of Phnom Penh.

We have also added support for sight impaired children, providing funds to bring them to Phnom Penh to have their eyes assessed and fitted with glasses. In addition to providing glasses, we were able to bring specialist staff from Krosar Thmey to train teachers and children how to improve the learning experience for sight impaired children. Thanks to Inara Walden and Peter Solness for supporting this initiative. With more funding would love to support more children with various special needs.
